The Chelsea FanCast hosted the Chelsea Supporters' Trust 'Virtual General Meeting' On the panel were Tim Rolls, CST Chairman; Richard Weekes, Membership co-ordinator & Social Media and David Chidgey, PR, Media & Communications. The Trust is mandated to hold 4 public meetings per year including the AGM, and we are committed to having one of them as a 'virtual' rather than face to face meeting, broadcast live via Chelsea FanCast's mixlr stream, so that those who unable to attend our meetings in person have the opportunity to participate and contribute. It’s hard to remember a worse week in recent times following Chelsea as we limply exited both the Champions League and the FA Cup. All this seemed to be compounded by Costa apparently being sent off for biting Everton’s Gareth Barry – whilst all of us can understand the desire to do Barry serious injury, thankfully Costa pulled his chompers away at the last second thereby avoiding a dreaded Luis Suarez scenario. In reality the only thing to bite was the realization that these two defeats mean that our season is over by March for the first time since the 90’s and an uncertain future awaits the club, players and supporters alike. Yep that’s right Chelsea have reached the points tally of 40 which means we have avoided relegation this year…probably. I don’t know what it is about Southampton away, but it certainly seems to be a big favourite of so many Chelsea supporters, myself included. Nothing quite like the irony of an away day that is just down the road. Great day out, loads of mates, a decent friendly pub and cheap beer. What’s not to like! It seemed to appeal to Chelsea as well as they battled through a poor performance to grind out a win against a side that had not shipped a goal or lost in 6 games. Chelsea gave City’s youth a spanking with 5 of the best on Sunday to march onward to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, which for most supporters I know is still massive. Sadly the TV, the FA and most of all clubs like Man City seem to disagree. In fielding what was tantamount to a youth side, City basically threw the tie and in my opinion hugely disrespected the tradition of the greatest cup competition in world football. And they call us a plastic club with no history! Anyway, Eden Hazard wasn’t complaining and put in a performance redolent of last season with 3 assists and a superb goal. But is the little Belgian as happy as a Trappist monk after a night on the ale or is it all waffle? Love was most definitely in the air on Saturday as we enjoyed one of the best days of this doom laden season. For once the excellent pre and post-match was matched on the pitch as Chelsea romped home to an easy 5-1 win against Newcastle. But, were we really that good or were Newcastle quite simply abject? Has the Chelsea juggernaut turned round or will we be talking about our season being over on next week’s show. Maybe we should just enjoy the moment, like the first body tingling kiss of a new and exciting relationship. Arguably one of the most tepid games in recent years between Chelsea and Man Utd yesterday as two teams clearly way below their title winning levels stumbled to a 1-1 draw. Why is Guus playing it safe rather than going for the win – are we really that devoid of talent and belief? What does he have to lose – absolutely nothing? But when all is said and done, at least we have stopped losing, so perhaps we should be thankful for that. It all adds up to a lot of disgruntlement from the supporters with Chelsea at the moment though, with the torpor on the pitch only matched by the lack of atmosphere off it. Tonight we were supposed to be talking about an excellent 5-1 win against MK Dons, an Oscar hat-trick, hell, even a goal by Eden Hazard. But instead, we learnt last night that it seems that John Terry’s illustrious career with the club is coming to an end. We all knew he couldn’t go on forever, but surely the club would have the sense to realise the impact of the leadership characteristics someone like JT might have on the club on or off the pitch at a time of major transition. Is there such a thing as gratitude and loyalty anymore, let alone good management? Whatever the ins and outs – and I’m sure there is fault on both sides – it bears yet more testament to the emotional disconnect and palpable discord that so many supporters increasingly have with the club and...

There really is nothing in football quite like beating those specialists in failure Arsenal Football Club, if only for the complete meltdown by their nerdy fans afterwards. They now haven’t even managed to score a goal against Chelsea in over 9 ½ hours of football – 6 matches. Add to that we’ve beaten them twice in our worst season for 30 years. Let’s hope we’ve terminally damaged their title chances – that would be sweet and some compensation for our trauma this season. Stamford Chidge is joined by Dr Mart, Jonathan Kydd and Dan Levene to discuss the 'cauldron of hate', a 6 pointer win and all of the fall out regarding the dismissal of Jose Mourinho. What a mad old week. Eugene finally wielded the axe and Jose Mourinho – the best manager in Chelsea’s history was sacked with the club 1 point away from the relegation zone. Right decision? Only time will tell. The immediate effect was a far better performance against Sunderland on Saturday and a much needed 3 points, but the game seemed almost secondary to the atmosphere in the ground which whilst not quite as toxic as some had feared certainly left the players and board in no doubt how the supporters felt about their part in Jose Mourinho’s downfall. For me, the blame should probably be apportioned equally, but what leaves me hurting most is the untimely reminder that we, the Chelsea supporters, are irrelevant when it comes to the egos of overpaid under performing players and managers and self-interested short-termist...

Just when we thought we were out, they pull us back in! Having seen the glimmer of recovery for the last few weeks, our faith and optimism crash landed with a defeat to newly promoted Bournemouth, yes Bournemouth. In truth we were mugged off with a typical smash and grab display by the cherries and we should have won comfortably – but just how many times have we said that this season? The recent Annual Membership survey was discussed in depth as well as updates and progress on actions from motions passed at the AGM including: Stamford Bridge redevelopment; Chelsea Pitch Owners future; Atmosphere & Safe Standing; Ticketing & touting issues. Three games unbeaten, three clean sheets, defensive solidity and the team playing like a team again – but is Chelsea really back and what of the rift between Jose and Costa – surely there will only be one winner there. Whilst Chelsea FanCast winning at the Football Blogging Awards was somewhat a surprise, the 1-0 win against Norwich on Saturday was nothing short of a massive relief. Our first win after 3 league defeats and to say the whistle was greeted with a fervor a kin to winning a trophy would be an understatement. Of course in reality this was no skin of the teeth win as Chelsea were on top for most of the game and should have run out comfortable winners by three goals or more. The team’s inability to finish being the only blot on an otherwise much improved performance in the defence and midfield. Hopefully onwards and upwards. But then one loss of concentration, one mistake, Liverpool equalize, Chelsea heads drop and they lose their sixth game out of eleven 3-1.
