Emily Mottram grew up in Pennsylvania and received her degree from Penn State University. In 2007, she and her husband moved to Maine where her passion for functional, yet beautiful spaces led Emily to start Mottram Architecture and start pursuing design with an emphasis on cold climate building. She is licensed in Maine, Pennsylvania, and New York. Her burning desire is to design simple, attractive, durable homes that use space efficiently but in a soulful and creative way.    Playing Small Moment Emily's playing small moment was when she realized she was going to have challenges; since her degree in Architecture is a male-dominated field. However, Emily made a decision that she wasn't going to let that define her. The Wake Up Call In 2009, after starting her business, Emily took on work as an Energy Consultant; instead of going full force into her company. She was working long hours; once she made the decision to cut back her workload; more opportunities started to present themselves in her business. Style
