Comparing our lives to others, especially very prosperous non-believers, can be very discouraging if our spirits aren't strong and our self-image not clearly rooted in Christ. Just as the psalmist Asaph experienced, the only way we can encourage ourselves is by drawing nearer to God and asking for His guidance to help us focus on our own lives, both presently and eternally, rather than on the here-and-now in other's lives. Very simply, our mandate for personal success against the enemy of comparison is this: "Do you, boo!"
