  • Mormon Baptism for the DEAD?!

    30/11/2020 Duração: 14min

In this episode we talk about something unique to Mormonism: Baptisms for the dead. Fun fact. We don't literally baptize dead people. Nope, we actually do work "vicariously" for people that have died. In other words, we act in behalf of those people to be baptized.    Baptism for the dead only happens in LDS (Mormon) temples. Mormon temples can only be entered into by worthy members of the LDS Church who are over 12 years old. Baptism for the dead is performed just as it is for the living-- by full immersion in water and using the same prayer as would be said in a living baptism. • Mormons call to give thanks!

    26/11/2020 Duração: 23min

Happy gratitude day!! Whether or not you’re watching this on Thanksgiving day or sometime in July, it’s a good day to be thankful :) In this episode, we’ve done something that we’ve NEVER done before. We challenged Mimi, Justin, and David to call someone out of the blue and let them know why they are grateful for them.    In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church), members are often encouraged to “count every blessing” and “be grateful in all things.” Not only is gratitude good for the soul but it’s also a commandment from God.    We know that not everyone expresses gratitude or love in the same way. So expressing gratitude might be different for you than how it is expressed in this episode. David clearly DOES NOT like to express intimate gratitude when he has a full scene watching him. Mimi and Justin express their love differently and it’s great for them! Whatever way you express your thanks this, we challenge you to DO IT TODAY! Don't forge

  • Addict to Convert: Carli's Story

    20/11/2020 Duração: 25min

In today's episode, Carli joins us to talk about her conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church).    Carli has lived all over the USA but claims New York as her hometown. Because Carli had a somewhat unstable childhood, she learned to take care of herself at a very early age. She'd be independent and eventually began using drugs and alcohol to keep her going.    After a series of difficult events, Carli noticed a man at work who was very happy and family oriented. She wanted what she had. When she heard that he was a member of the LDS Church, she knew she wanted some part of the Church. Little did she now that she had more difficult trials around the corner and quickly learned how much she needed the gospel of Jesus Christ in her life. • Who is Nephi in the Book of Mormon??

    19/11/2020 Duração: 10min

If you’ve ever read the first page of the Book of Mormon, you’ve heard of the name ‘Nephi.’ He’s the first person introduced (by himself, in fact

  • Are Mormon Temple ceremonies stolen from the Masons?

    18/11/2020 Duração: 25min

Today's episode of Saints Unscripted is different than usual... David does a Skype video call with Brett McDonald who has his own YouTube channel called LDS Truth Claims.   David and Brett talk about the criticisms between Joseph Smith and Freemasonry. Lots of critics like to point at the similarities between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's temple ceremonies and freemasonry. David and Brett go back and forth talking about these criticisms and determine how to go about understanding their similarities. Just because some things have some similarities does not mean they are the same, or that Joseph was a false prophet because of them. • Living with Bipolar Disorder

    17/11/2020 Duração: 15min

In this episode, Hannah talks to us about mental illness. She has been living with bi-polar disorder for many years. She talks about the stigma behind bi-polar and other mental illnesses, as well as how to navigate life while also dealing with mental illness.    Justin also talks about his struggle with depression and emphasizes how important it is to get professional help, as also strongly suggested by Jeffrey R. Holland who recently gave a talk on mental illness. Hannah's biggest piece of advice to those struggling with mental illness is to look for help. Don't give up on finding the right therapist and medication for you. It's going to be okay. ❤ Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/saintsunscripted

  • Bad leaders of the Church…

    16/11/2020 Duração: 14min

**Almost all leaders (clergy) in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are unpaid and work normal jobs.**    This episode is TOUGH. First and foremost, we want to emphasize that we abhor inappropriate conduct from ANY leader in the Church, regardless of position in the Church. As Justin says in this episode, if you’ve ever been sexually or physically abused by a leader (or anyone, for that matter), don’t be afraid to speak up! Such leaders should not be in positions of leadership.    While there are extreme cases of misconduct, there are also cases of leaders making comments that are offensive or inappropriate. Such comments may draw us away from the Church and the feelings are REAL! Justin and Taylor share their experiences in being hurt by different comments from Church leaders and what they felt, how they acted, and what it means for them moving forward.    We are so sad when anyone is offended by church leaders, by us, or by anyone in the Church. We hope that such t

  • What my Mormon mission was ACTUALLY like…

    13/11/2020 Duração: 13min

If you’re preparing to serve a mission, recently returned home from a mission, or want to know about missionaries, this episode is for YOU!  In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church), many young adults choose to serve a mission for the Church. (Check out the videos below for more information on LDS missions:)) It may sound like fun to be on your own in a new city (and sometimes country), teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. But what are the challenges? Do missionaries ever want to go home?   In this episode, Taylor and Sam talk about what it’s like to be a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ. They talk about the expectations, the rules, and how it feels to frequently fall short. They are completely transparent about being a missionary! • How “magic” is Mormon underwear?

    12/11/2020 Duração: 12min

In this episode, we talk all about GARMENTS! In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, members who have made temple covenants with God are told to wear ‘garments’ or a special undergarment that goes below the clothing (for pictures of garments and more explanation, check out this video made by the Church: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMutZ...).    Justin and Samantha talk about when they choose to wear the temple garment, what we should do when someone chooses not to wear the temple garment, and the purpose of temple garments, We also address YOUR thoughts from our Instagram page to temple garments (follow us on Instagram so you can be part of the conversation!). • Is quarantine church better than in-person church?

    11/11/2020 Duração: 15min

In this episode, Taylor and Justin talk about their experience during the COVID-19 quarantine. The current pandemic has caused a lot of changes in "normal" worship for many, many religions. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church), the standard worship occurs every Sunday in-person for 2 hours. But, due to the pandemic, Sunday worship is done in each individual's own home. That said, Taylor and Justin have some strong opinions as to how the "at home church" is going for them!! ALSO, you get to FINALLY SEE and HEAR FROM Jake, a Saints Unscripted videographer!! WHOOP!! Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/saintsunscripted

  • Should Mormons SHUN people who leave the Church?

    10/11/2020 Duração: 13min

When a loved one leaves the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, family members react in a variety of ways. There have been absolutely horrible stories about the ways in which friends and family have reacted to someone leaving the Church, of which we do not condone. Taylor and Sam discuss why Mormons react the way they do and how they can better react to their loved ones leaving the Church.    Sam says that “the church does not have a monopoly on goodness and inspiration.” Certainly not! So many people from so many walks of life have goodness, truth, light, and inspiration. To claim that we are the only ones to possess such traits would be ludicrous. If you hear a member of the Church make such a claim, they aren’t speaking on behalf of the Church but just on behalf of themselves.    If you have left the Church, know that we still love you, God still loves you, and we’re here for you. If you are struggling with a loved one who has left the Church, we understand and pray that there

  • How to LOVE in a world filled with HATE

    09/11/2020 Duração: 17min

For this episode, we're back on Zoom (don't worry, we'll be back on set next time) and we're with Mimi and Justin! With all of the differences in opinion online, lots of friendships have been lost, lots of anger has been expressed, and lots of love has been lost. Social media can be fabulous but during this time of unrest, there is definitely lots of anger that we need to confront. How do we love in a world filled with hate?    Mimi and Justin talk about how we need to ask people how they want to be loved rather than just assuming that everyone feels love in the same way. Maybe the way you feel love is by engaging in high-level political discussion... but maybe for your best friend, such 'love' doesn't mean love at all. Another thing to consider is that, while it is difficult to know how to help others, we can pray for guidance, so long as we are wanting what God wants-- to love purely and without an agenda. • When should I have a BABY?!

    04/11/2020 Duração: 17min

Today Taylor vlogs with his wife, Amy, and their cute baby, Charlie! Whether you're new to parenting, wanting to be a parent, or have been a long-time parent, this episode is for you (okay, and if you love seeing cute babies because Charlie is the ultimate charmer). Taylor and Amy talk about the process of becoming parents, what they've learned, and when they believe is the best time to have a baby. Amy talks about the spiritual experiences she has had in her decision to become a mom and how she felt so strongly that she was meant to be a mom. • Taylor commits sins ON CAMERA

    03/11/2020 Duração: 12min

Taylor and Justin have been filming as hosts Saints Unscripted together for awhile yet haven’t ever really “broken the ice.” Since we’re now filming with just the two of them (until the quarantine ends), we decided it’s time for them to really get to know each other by playing “This or That,” arguably the best get-to-know you game on YouTube!

  • Advice for Mormons from an ex-Mormon

    02/11/2020 Duração: 14min

It’s rare that we have a guest on the channel that isn’t a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints… but we LOVE having guests of any background so we were stoked to get to have Kyle on the show to talk about his experiences! Kyle grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ (also known as the Mormon Church) but left the Church in his late teens. He talks about his experience leaving the Church and what he has learned from the experience.    We recently released a video about how to treat people who have left the Church (here: https://youtu.be/_9-G6fAI10M) but quickly realized that it would be best to actually speak with an ex-Mormon so we weren’t speaking on their behalf. Kyle came up at just the right time and we think this conversation is absolutely vital to learning how to treat all people with respect, love, and understanding. • Why do Mormons Celebrate Halloween?

    30/10/2020 Duração: 10min

In this episode, we talk all about Halloween and answer questions like, why do we, as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (sometimes referred to as Mormons) celebrate Halloween especially when we know its roots come from paganism?   Mimi points out examples of other holidays with pagan roots, Kwaku rants about candy companies (while secretly being one of their most loyal customers), and  our ghost buddy, Justin, tells us about the "Mummy Dogs" his mother made for Halloween when he was a kid. • Do we believe in Ghosts?

    29/10/2020 Duração: 09min

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! (Okay, maybe you're watching this after Halloween... in which case, happy whatever day it is!)    Today on 3 Mormons, we talk about whether or not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as Mormons or LDS) believe in ghosts.    Kwaku, Justin, and David all share the experiences they've had with ghosts. Kwaku emphasizes the importance of staying close to Jesus Christ.   Mimi says that she hasn't had an experience with a ghost but speaks about the importance of ministering angels who are helping us on this earth. She reads a quote about the spirit world being here on this earth and that we can experience the positive influence of our ancestors who have gone on. • The TRUTH about having a baby…

    28/10/2020 Duração: 16min

Taylor and Amy are back from their home (okay, from baby Charlie’s room) to vlog about having a BABY!! In this episode, they share all the tips to being new parents and taking care of a baby. They talk about both pregnancy and postpartum, as well as Amy’s experience with postpartum depression (which began a little bit before the baby was born).    Both Amy and Taylor agree that one of the most important things you can do is cut yourself some slack (and your partner as well). Having a baby is tough! And the difficulty doesn’t end with the baby entering the world… there is a lot of adjusting that is so unique and challenging to becoming parents — but also immensely rewarding (just look at cute baby Charlie if you’re curious ;)). • Binge eating disorder - can God really help?

    27/10/2020 Duração: 14min

We’re BACK on set with Samantha and Justin to talk about BINGE EATING DISORDER. It’s very likely that someone in your social circle has struggled with a mental disorder (or food disorder) in one way or another. Today we want to talk about the signs, how to cope, and the reasons behind the need to binge.    Samantha talks about how growing up, she was a perfectionist. She wanted to have good grades, refrain from harmful activities, and be seen as a “good kid.” So when things got stressful, she would resort to eating lots and lots of food to mask the stresses of her life. She talks about how it almost would feel better to be able to blame herself for the pain she had caused rather than an external source that she couldn’t control. • Why Mormons talk about the 'twelve tribes of Israel'

    26/10/2020 Duração: 13min

Okay, well admit it... We weren't crazy familiar with the 12 tribes of Israel going into this episode. BUT in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church), you might hear the twelve tribes of Israel referred to in patriarchal blessings and so forth.    In this episode, we talk about the twelve tribes, their responsibilities, and why it's so commonly mentioned in the Church of Jesus Christ.    Kwaku talks about his patriarchal blessing mentioning that he is from the tribe of Abraham. David then talks more about the history of the twelve tribes and how they came to be. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/saintsunscripted
