Manly’s Mind Coach, John Novak, has more than three decades of experience in helping athletes perform at their best, and he joins Clinton on Full-Time every week to discuss the minds of athletes.  Following the Wallabies defeat at the World Cup and Michael Cheika's resignation, John gives us an insight on what Michael has been going through this week.

Jim Cassidy is a retired New Zealand champion jockey who has been inducted in both the Australian Racing Hall of Fame and the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame. He has won 2 Melbourne Cups, a Cox Plate, 2 Caulfield Cups and 3  Australian Derbys. Jim opens up about his life and struggles with Clinton Maynard. 

Every week former NRL referee Greg McCallum joins Clinton Maynard on Full-Time to dissect all the action from the weekend's footy. This week he reviews the two preliminary finals and agrees with the decisions by the NRL’s match review committee on both Luke Keary's careless high tackle on Felise Kaufusi and Josh Papalii's tackle on Adam Doueihi. "It's good that it's been done and dusted so the players can concentrate ahead for the Grand Final without worrying about judiciary", he said.

Another week of NRL action has come and gone and decisions made by referees have come under fire yet again, mainly the sin binning of Manly star Jake Trbojevic.  In the 66th minute of Manly and South Sydney’s do or die clash Trbojevic was sent from the field for 10 minutes after he committed a professional foul on Dane Gagai.  The penalty has come under extreme scrutiny from the NRL community at large, and has led many to question if a 10 minute sin bin was too harsh.  Every week former NRL referee Greg McCallum joins Clinton Maynard on Fulltime to dissect all the action from the weekend's footy. This week Clinton posed the question to him, should the NRL bring back a 5 minute sin bin? During the 1980s when Greg was at the peak of his refereeing powers the 5 minute sin bin was still a part of the game, and he believes that having the option to send players off for 5 minutes “was the greatest weapon we had”.

Their season may be officially over, but no-one can say that the Manly Sea Eagles 2019 season was a failure. Manly’s Mind Coach John Novak joins Clinton Maynard on Full-Time every Sunday evening and this week he spoke about his role in helping the boys from Sydney’s Northern Beaches go from finishing 15th in 2018 to a year later being 2 games away from a Grand Final berth. 

They’ve done it!  For the first time in the clubs history, Greater Western Sydney Giants players will be lacing up their boots and chucking on their guernseys to take part in the AFL’s big dance on the 28th of September.  It’s been an up and down journey for the Giants since their introduction into the competition in 2011, seeing them narrowly miss a grand final berth in 2016, but after Saturday nights gutsy 56-52 wins over Collingwood, Leon Camerons men will be making the trip to the MCG to lock horns with the Richmond Tigers.  An extremely proud Tony Sheppard, Chairman of the GWS Giants, joined Clinton Maynard on Full-Time to speak on just how much this grand final berth means to not only the club, but the area of Western Sydney as a whole. “Our heart is in Western Sydney. From 5th on the grid to winner, Scott McLaughlin phoned in to Clinton Maynard straight after his Supercars Race 24 win at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint. With this latest win Scott has passed the record of most wins in one season, passing Craig Lowndes with 16 wins which has stood for over 20 years.

John Novak has more than three decades of experience in helping athletes perform at their best, and he joins Clinton on Full-Time every week to discuss the minds of athletes.  This week Clinton posed the question to him, how do sportsmen and women stay motivated when they know their side won’t be playing in the finals?  John admits it’s extremely difficult for athletes to stay tuned in when they’re faced with this issue and ultimately, it comes down to how much the individual truly loves the sport they’re playing. 

They may have not been a part of the National Rugby League for over 30 years, but the much beloved Newtown Jets still hold a special place in many rugby league diehards hearts.  Despite departing the first grade competition in 1983 fans still flock from far and wide to pack out Henson Park to enjoy a cold beer, a sausage sizzle and to watch the mighty Jets carve up in the Canterbury Cup. This continued popularity amongst fans has been documented by Newtown Jets fanatic Glen Dwyer in his book Taking It To The Streets – The Second Life of the Newtown RLFC.  While the Jets have been around since 1908, Glens book focuses solely on the franchise from 1991 until present day and shines light on the resurgence of the club back to relevancy after it had, as he put it, “come back from the grave of rugby league”.  Not only do the Jets stand as a staple of the Inner West they also assist in the development of a vast amount of young players careers, primarily from the Cronulla Sharks. &ldq

Mind guru John Novak has more than three decades of experience helping elite athletes perform at their best. He is also Manly's mind coach. Clinton Maynard had a chat to John discussing how players are impacted by the departure of their coach.

Clinton Maynard spoke to former NRL and Origin referee, Greg McCallum, who agreed that 26 penalties in the Manly-Canberra game is excessive. "The referees really didn't let go of the throttle, they wanted to pick up everything that was going on", Greg declared. He also hopes that the semi final series isn't marred by tackled players who are getting up and moving off the mark. "They must be penalised", he said.

Clinton Maynard spoke to former NRL and Origin referee, Greg McCallum, who said "the focus is too tight on tackles and referees are left with little option from those who assess them week in week out, sin binning these sort of tackles is wrong". He also agrees with Dean Pay that referees are over coached. When quizzed, Greg also hinted that anything is possible as far as him returning to the match review committee.
