Bridging The Gap

There are a lot of things to be worried about right now. But Lloyd will remind us again today that having an attitude of worry is basically telling God that you don’t trust Him. Harsh? Well, let’s think about it. If you truly trust God to be the God of your life, then you turn your troubles over to Him, and there’s nothing to worry about. Let’s join pastor Lloyd and learn how to trust God more, and worry less!

There are many things to be worried about right now. The economy. Racial tension. The increase in violent crime. Pastor Lloyd will begin today’s message with a look at a section of the sermon on the mount, in Matthew six, but he will also talk about a very familiar scene in which Jesus came to visit a pair of sisters named Mary and Martha.

Today, Pastor Lloyd will share some ways that we can fight the battle against the forces of evil and come out victorious. Every victorious team has a game plan, and so it is with our battle against satan - we need a game plan and we need to stick to it! 

Who do you think you are? Now, we have all probably been asked that question with a little anger behind it, but actually, I’m asking you that important question as it pertains to your standing in the kingdom of God. He sent His son to die for us. That should tell us how much God values each of us. Our scripture for today is the second chapter of First John.

As we look around us we see a world in decay. From a spiritual and moral perspective we are going down the drain. And even for Christians, it is quite easy to get caught in the current. So, today pastor Lloyd will share some things we need to be cautious about, as we set some firm spiritual objectives to not only grow, but to prosper in these turbulent times.

Truth is certainly a relative thing these days. The abortion debate is clear evidence of that. No one can truthfully deny that an abortion takes a human life. But the way certain groups attempt to justify it is abhorrent. That’s just one example of seeking truth in the wrong place. The bible is the only one hundred percent reliable source for truth! Let’s join pastor Lloyd for today’s message.

Have you noticed how everyone is allowed these days to make up their own version of what is true? Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley brings us a message titled “Receiving and Guarding the Truth”. We are going to visit several books in the bible to discover that the only place to find absolute truth is - the bible!

We’re going to try to bridge a little of the gap between ourselves and God by improving our prayer life. It makes sense that the closer we get to God, the better our relationship will be, and to do that we’ve got to be good communicators. We’ll look at a very good example of effective prayer today as we turn to Second Chronicles chapter twenty, verses one through thirty.

There have been many examples over the years of men and women who went to God in prayer before facing a major test. Abraham Lincoln prayed often before an important speech. Many pro athletes pray before a game. Today on Bridging the Gap, we’ll go to Second Chronicles chapter twenty as we witness a prayer from a man named Jehoshafat. He was facing a very serious conflict with the enemies of Judah... so he prayed.

Today on Bridging the Gap, we’ll continue our series called “True Worship”, with a study in Colossians chapter three.  We are looking at the differences between the old person living without God’s presence in their life, and the new person, who has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. The difference should be as apparent as the difference between a caterpillar and a butterfly.

There are many Christians who look back on their habits and behavior before they were saved and wonder what they could possibly have been thinking! The old person and the new person... it’s often quite a difference. And it’s supposed to be. Our study is in Colossians chapter three, verses twelve through seventeen.

A lot of people worship God in a lot of different ways. Many of them would be considered proper, and many of them would not. As pastor Lloyd takes us to the first two verses of Romans chapter twelve today, see if your worship is proper, by God’s standard. That’s the only standard we should be concerned with.

 Today pastor Lloyd is going to bring us a message titled “Reasonable Worship”. And he is going to use God’s standard to decide what “reasonable” worship really is. Join us in Romans chapter twelve.

 Today - we’ll investigate how we can worship our Lord through song. You don’t have to have the voice of Mahalia Jackson or George Beverly Shea in order to worship God. It’s more your attitude than anything else.

 Singing is one of the greatest ways we can worship God. And it doesn’t matter whether you can carry a tune or not. Lloyd will be talking about singing our worship to the Lord today, so join us in Psalm ninety six as we join pastor Lloyd.

On Today’s program, pastor Lloyd will again remind us of the importance of worship, and why worship brings us into a closer relationship with God, and with each other. As Robert Horn said - “Worship is the sum total of all our response to God as his children”. It’s an exciting study to follow - so stay with us for today’s edition of Bridging the Gap.

In our lives as Christians, we should strive to finish with our torch still lit.  Today on Bridging the Gap, we come to Hebrews chapter eleven verses thirty two through thirty four, looking at the great men of faith in the bible. 

Today on Bridging the Gap we begin a new series from pastor Lloyd Pulley titled “True Worship”. Worship is really one of the basics of Christianity, yet we too often forget about it - and we even have trouble understanding what worship actually entails. Pastor Lloyd will cover those topics over the next couple of weeks as we learn how to worship our wonderful God. Here’s pastor Lloyd to begin our series titled “True Worship”.

Christians should have a desire to be obedient to God.  But knowing it and doing it are two very different things. Today we wrap up pastor Lloyd’s series in Hebrews eleven, titled “By Faith”. We’ve seen some incredible examples of faith put into action - at the risk of great personal harm. This series should cause all of us to look within and ask, “Am I willing to be bold in my faith?”
