Sinopse
A former megachurch pastor leaves religion behind to rid himself of the exclusivity created by its dogmas in order to open himself up to learn from the lives, stories, and experiences of everyone else. To prove we are more alike than we think and we can all get along no matter what we believe. Topics range via guest's experiences growing up in religious homes, where Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Secularism, Judaism, Hinduism, Tao, Heathenism, Wicca and all forms of dogmas and ideologies programmed into the mind of a child. What happens when that child becomes an adult? What good things do they hold onto? What things do they lose? Where are they now, and in what ways are they finding the peace that we all desire, with or apart from the religions they were raised with? Losing Our Religion is a wild ride with a community of diverse humans each seeking their desired life away from dogma and exclusivity.

Romance, religion, experience, science, and psychology all give us definitions of love, but is there a definition that makes sense for all of us? Do our personal definitions of love cause us to put expectations on others? Why do we consistently see only our idea of love as the truth? REJECTED CONTENT: Evangelicalism Vs. Jesus: Kyle Reynolds Interviews Zac Gandara
15/03/2017 Duração: 45minA few weeks ago I was invited to speak at a Christian Outreach Ministry and be a guest on their podcast. The topic they asked me to address? Evangelicalism Vs Jesus. I was nervous, but excited to again be talking with "Christians." The talk went great, and the interview was really encouraging. But the podcast never posted, and upon further review of what I shared, the "powers that be" decided it was too controversial to post. Well, we got a hold of the recording and decided to post it for you to listen too. Decide for yourself. EPISODE 083: The Secret to Not Aging: Rejyna Douglass-Whitman
01/03/2017 Duração: 01h09minIn just a few seconds into this conversation, you're going to understand why I hit it off and fell in love with Rejyna. Her infectious voice, joyful embrace, solid wisdom, and experience, especially in the music industry made this into a roller coaster ride of conversational beauty. She's a long time talented musician, entertainment industry professional, Christian, Parent, and Trans*. But those are just labels, and labels do little but limit our experience of the person. She loves neuroscience, and we get into a great discussion around staying mentally fresh and never aging. EPISODE 082: Part 2: A Man Loves a Woman, an Atheist Marries a Christian: Dave and Grace Kwon
22/02/2017 Duração: 59minWe jump right back into it with Grace continuing her story of what it was like letting her Christian friends know about her relationship with Dave, the baby eating Atheist. What’s so beautiful about their story is how their differing beliefs created a safe space for them to each ask the hard questions of each other and not only compromise but grow together. Dave and Grace end the show with some amazing advice and helpful experiences for other Atheists, Muslims, Christians, or Heathens (insert ideological difference here) that may be engaging and pursuing a relationship with someone outside of their religion. EPISODE 081: A Man Loves a Woman, an Atheist Marries a Christian: Dave and Grace Kwon
15/02/2017 Duração: 55minA man loves a woman, so an Atheist marries a Christian. Grace (a Christian) meets Dave (an Atheist), they work through their differences, become friends, fall in love, and get married. Is that allowed? Does it matter? How did they do it? What about their families? One evening in Whittier California, Dave and Grace had me over for dinner and drinks at their place to talk about their relationship, marriage, and story of joining despite their different beliefs. Dave and I get into logic, and I keep cutting off Grace before she speaks. But don't worry, we stop pontificating she chimes in and tells the story her way and with beautiful transparency and candor, just as someone with the name is Grace should. EPISODE 078: Loser Stories: Anger is OK: Ron Smith
25/01/2017 Duração: 57minThis continuation of Ron's story reminds us that it is ok to be angry. In fact, it's downright therapeutic. Anger is an emotion that helps us relieve stress, gives us the motivation to solve problems and provides a way, through healthy expression, to discuss our negative feelings. Religion often forces us to stuff emotions like anger. It's time to let it out. Ron Smith is a 6'8" pleasure to be around. We converse around punk rock, spiritual abuse, abuse, atheism, agnosticism, Catholicism, being bitter and angry, and finding joy in our now, lives of liberality. Ron was born and raised on the Indianapolis' east side to an interesting kind of Christian home. My father was a working class Immanuel Kant, and my mother a sharp-tongued Voltaire who was, and still is, cynical towards organized religion. After years of wandering around the country, Ron finally finished school earning his degree in Literature and Religion; and met his soul sister, Jack Kerouac. Currently, he's doing the work thing, reading, and writing for himself and a friend who has an independent local magazine. On a side note, the way he goes at organized religion, people have as

Not in this particular order necessarily, but you get the idea. I ask Alf to chat with me over mead and beers to teach me the ways of Norse Folk Life. Words like pagan, heathen, and diviner are discussed as I try not to shit my pants. I'm a former Christian for heaven sake; I'm not ready for this! Haha, yeah right!
