Bridging The Gap

Now we all know that one of the key components in winning any battle is to be properly equipped. In our spiritual war with satan, it’s especially important. In Ephesians six, beginning in verse fourteen, Paul lays out for us the key pieces of our Godly armor. 

If you were a football coach, and you got ahold of the other team’s playbook, that would be a huge advantage, right? Well, as Christians, we need to pay close attention to satan’s “play book”, because if we know how he will attack us, we’ll know how to successfully fight back.

None of us really wants to know satan very well. He is our enemy. He wants to destroy our relationship with God. But if we get to know his methods, we’ll have an advantage, right? Well, that is what we’ll be looking at today - satan’s operations manual. 

There are certain items that are essential for a soldier’s success. Same thing for the Christian. We’re in a spiritual battle every day of our lives, and our enemy is satan.

There have been very few times when the world has been at peace, and we can see some very tense situations around the world even today. There is also another war we fight every day - a spiritual war. Today we begin a series in Ephesians chapter six, as pastor Lloyd teaches us the basics of spiritual warfare. Join us as we go to class for Spiritual Warfare 101! 

Transgenderism, homosexuality - they are in the news on a daily basis, and that presents a very serious problem for Christian parents. Schools are indoctrinating kids with this perversion, and anyone who protests is labeled a bigot. How much does God love us - to what depths will He descend to reach us with his love?  We have a picture of God’s love in the Book of Ruth. There was a law in Israel that allowed from someone along with their property to be redeemed. This law of the kinsman redeemer had certain elements that had to be met for there to be redemption. This law is applied by Boaz to redeem Ruth.

Jesus Christ has redeemed us and will return to take us to be with Him forever. In His glorious kingdom we will be ruling and reigning with him. No more suffering, sorrow, pain or even death! That’s a happy ending and what we’ll talk about today on Bridging the Gap . 

The book of Ruth is a very special love story. But the love that’s on display is not merely a romantic love - it’s much deeper. It’s a picture of the love Jesus has for His bride the Church. And the Church’s response to Jesus. So it’s a love that is available for us today.

The Book of Ruth is a classic love story that’s even been made into a movie. It truly is one of the most loved books in the bible, and it’s one we can learn a great deal from. Let’s do that now. 

The book of Ruth recounts how God used a man named Boaz to provide for Ruth... And this woman named Ruth to provide for Naomi.  We’ll learn today on Bridging the Gap  that God’s provision is far more than the material and far more reaching than the immediate. God truly does exceedingly - abundantly - above all that we could ask or imagine! 

Today on the program we’ll be looking at God’s redeeming plan for our lives, as seen through the story of Ruth.  This book offers a beautiful portrait of redemption as we’ll soon see.  Ruth and Boaz are much more than a couple of people who fell in love at first sight. Their story reminds us all that God has an amazing plan for our lives, even when we feel like we’re at a low point.
