Bridging The Gap

God has used women greatly throughout the ages, and we’re going to see a great biblical example of that today.  Her name is Deborah, and we find her song of warning in Judges five. Communication skills are essential in our relationship with God and with each other, and Deborah is a shining example.

 Today, we’re going to have a little choir practice, as we look at the Song of Deborah, found in Judges chapter five. The lyrics of this song are really amazing. They challenge us, they remind us that we face the same issues today that Deborah talked about back then, and there is a little history lesson thrown in as well.

You cry out to God for deliverance, and He does so very graciously.  You’re set free, and then a little while later that cycle occurs again... and again!   This is actually nothing new.  As we’ll see in Judges three, the children of Israel did the very same thing.

Today we visit Judges chapter three.  The children of Israel are in a season of wickedness, and the Lord is really upset about it.  They’re about to cry out to God, and the Lord, by His grace, delivers them yet again.

What would happen if you went to your spouse and told them you were going to be faithful to them 99 percent of the time?  The result would probably be a few nights on the couch - or worse! Compromise can be costly in marriage, and in other aspects of life as well. Today as we again look at Judges chapter two, we’ll see just how costly compromise was for the people of Israel, when it came to their relationship with God. 

 You can go back to biblical times and find many instances where compromise was costly. That’s what we’ll do today as we open our Bibles to Judges chapter two. God’s chosen people compromised in their faith, and it cost a lot.

We have just begun a new series in the Old Testament book of Judges. The book of Judges details the continual failure of the children of Israel, and we’d do well to learn from their mistakes. 

Every time we compromise and sin- disaster and bondage is around the corner. This truth rings loud and clear throughout the book of Judges, and today on Bridging the Gap we’re pleased to begin a new series in this often overlooked book. Pastor Lloyd Pulley kicks off the series with a study in Judges chapter one, titled “Incomplete Victory”.

Today, Pastor Lloyd will share some ways that we can fight the battle against the forces of evil and come out victorious. Every victorious team has a game plan, and so it is with our battle against satan - we need a game plan and we need to stick to it!

Today pastor Lloyd is going to continue a message titled “Spiritual Cautions and Objectives”, and he will ask us to consider who we are in Christ, and what the bible says about who we are. First of all, we should all know just how valuable we are to God. 

As we look around us we see a world in decay. From a spiritual and moral perspective we are going down the drain. As Christians it is quite easy to get caught in the current. So, today pastor Lloyd will share some things we need to be cautious about, as we set some firm spiritual objectives to not only grow, but to proper in these turbulent times. 

If you were with us last time, you know that Lloyd is sharing a message concerning truth - where to find it and where NOT to find it. Truth is certainly a relative thing these days

 Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley brings us a message titled “Receiving and Guarding the Truth”. We are going to visit several books in the bible to discover that the only place to find absolute truth is - the bible! 

The real key to any discussion about trials in life is not whether they will happen, but how we deal with them when they do. Where do you turn when times get tough? The world tells you one thing, and God’s word tells you something completely different!

Here on this podcast we don’t preach ourselves, but rather Christ Jesus our Lord.  Interestingly enough, that’s exactly what the apostle Paul told the church at Corinth in his Second epistle to them.  He also told them not to lose heart when they encounter the trials associated with sharing God’s truth

Imagine how Paul felt as he made his way to Europe to share the gospel with people he knew would be very hostile to the message. Did it keep him from going? No! He relied on God to be his strength in time of trouble and threat. A great example for us today, wouldn’t you agree?

 Today we’ll bring you a study in the sixteenth chapter, as Paul begins his second missionary journey. One of the greatest aspects of Paul’s ministry was his developing trust in the Lord’s ability to be the sole controlling influence in his life. Despite the complexity of his itinerary, despite the almost daily threats to his very life - Paul learned not to flinch in his trust of God.

Many people think that the day they receive salvation through Jesus Christ is the day all of their problems disappear. That’s hardly the case! But we certainly can get help in times of trouble from God! Our scripture text is the twelfth chapter of Acts, and the experience of Peter.

Today as we look at Acts chapter twelve, we’ll see what happened to Peter when he was arrested, and his friends started praying for him. Not only is this a great example of trust and faith in God, it’s also an illustration of something we as Christians are experiencing in the year 2022 - the government intruding into our lives as believers. 

We know Jesus came to save us from a sinful separation from God, but it doesn’t end there.  In fact, Jesus’s purpose is far more reaching than that.  To understand fully the Lord’s purpose, we need to consider a question: why did He come to earth as a man? One of the wonderful answers to that question is - to release us from fear.
