Bridging The Gap

Pastor Lloyd is going to offer some encouragement today to hang in there in those trough times, and turn your trials over to the Lord. Our message today is appropriately titled “Faith Tested”, and we’ll be looking at First Peter chapter flour.

Today on Bridging the Gap, we’ll see that our hope for being saved from our troubles doesn’t come from man. And that our “message in a bottle” arrived a long time ago, in the form of God’s word.

Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley, will show us that Christians must be careful not to get pulled into the world’s “live for today” mentality. Join us in First Peter chapter four.

The year 2022 certainly has been battle, with inflation, high gas prices, and there’s no end is sight.  Well just as years eventually end, so too will the battle. But in the mean time, as we put on our spiritual armor, we’ll be protected and emerge victorious.

Today we will be looking at Romans chapter thirteen. The Church in Rome had dosed off spiritually, so the apostle Paul sends a letter and sounds the alarm.

God hasn’t changed - nor has His message - but there is growing pressure to say otherwise. Today on Bridging the Gap, we’ll be encouraged to not sell out, but to stay true to the word. Today’s message marks the end of pastor Lloyd Pulley’s series called “Lessons of Grace in an Age of Decline”.

The central figure in today’s message is a prophet names Elisha. The nation of Israel was in decline, much as our world is in decline today. Spiritually, we face challenges today that are like none other in history…. or do we? The fact is, spiritual warfare has been going on from the beginning of humanity. We could really use an Elisha today, couldn’t we?

 In recent years we have seen many a motion picture come out with the title “Blockbuster” attached to it. Well, if you tried to make a movie out of what we see occurring in this section of God’s Word, it would definitely be called a “blockbuster”. Wars, cannibalism, a miracle here and there.... it’s all here! 

 In Second Kings, chapter four, were going to see a couple of miracles performed by the prophet Elisha. Much like his predecessor Elijah, Elisha is called upon to bring a dead child back to life. It’s yet another example for us of the power of God working through the people who faithfully serve him.

Today we’ll be studying the book of Second Kings, chapter four. War movies have always been very popular with film fans, and the story we’ll read about here in chapter four is full of the same type of action and behind the scenes wheeling and dealing. The nation of Israel was in decline, yet God never turned His back on them! 

 If you were with us last time, you know we began a study of First Kings chapter nineteen. Today we’re going to hear the conclusion of the message, and to set the scene for you, things have gotten so bad for Elijah he actually asked God to let him die! But God isn’t through with Elijah, as we’ll find out today. 

As we look at the book of First Kings today, we see a nation in decline. Yet God never turned His back on His people. Much like those days of old, the world we live in today is on a spiritual decline, wouldn’t you agree? The grace of God is unchanging and always available for those who will put their faith in Him.

Today’s topic on Bridging the Gap is the Holy Spirit, and how we must yield to Him in order for Him to work effectively in our lives. There have been heated debates over the years concerning the Holy Spirit, but I think if you’ll stick with us today, much of that controversy will be solved. 

We will be talking about the Holy Spirit today, and the important role He plays in our every day lives. As misunderstood and underestimated as the Holy Spirit is, we can never spend too much time getting to know Him, and what He can do when we utilize His incredible power. To use the Holy Spirit’s power in our lives is to submit to His power. That’s not necessarily something we’re good at, so let’s look to  Ephesians chapter five for help.

Today Lloyd continues his new series called “Basic Christian Living”, by sharing a message on prayer. When you talk about the basics of our Christian walk, prayer is certainly part of the list, right? I guess when you break prayer down to it’s bare essence, what we’re doing is talking with God. But as with so many other parts of our relationship with God, there is a right way and a wrong way to pray. 

As one wise person once said, The worst day with Jesus is better than the best day with anyone else. As Christians, we may not always be happy, but we will always have that true joy that is found only in Christ Jesus.

Paul did not seek money or fame by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He did so with a pure and loving heart. That’s a good example of basic Christian living!

Christian suffering will be the topic today, here on Bridging the Gap. Suffering comes in all shapes and sizes for the Christian, but when it occurs it is helpful to keep our eyes on what awaits us in the end. 

Rejoice in suffering?   Is that really possible?  Sounds far fetched, doesn’t it?  But, today on Bridging the Gap, Lloyd Pulley will show us that suffering has purpose, and if you understand what the purpose is, you have good reason to rejoice.

Today we will bring you another message from pastor Lloyd’s series titled “Basic Christian Living”.  In the final two verses of Romans chapter five, Paul reminds the Roman Christians of the power and might of God’s wonderful grace.
