In this episode, we talk about contraceptives (birth control). Are Mormons allowed to use contraceptives? Many religious people might decide against contraceptives. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church), members of the Church are not advised whether they should or should not use birth control. Every member is advised to decide with their spouse and with God concerning their decisions in building their family. Justin, Mimi, and David talk about their  personal opinions as members of the Church.

The Ten Commandments have been around for a very very long time but are still widely taught and followed throughout the world. We, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as Mormons), follow the Ten Commandments found in the bible but, do we interpret them differently?   In this video, we talk about what the Ten Commandments mean to us and give you an idea of how we interpret and obey them in our everyday lives.  Have you ever heard a Mormon say a weird word to replace a swear word? The population of Nauvoo, Illinois is just over 1,000. So why are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as Mormons) so aware of and slightly obsessed with Nauvoo?    Nauvoo is an important part of the history of the Church of Jesus Christ. Shortly after the Church was organized, persecutions against the Church were rampant. Latter-day Saints (members of the Church) were forced out of their homes and ended up settling in Nauvoo. Nauvoo is where many important revelations occurred during the time of continued persecution. Eventually the saints were forced to flee once again and ended up settling in the western United States (with the Church headquartered in what is now Salt Lake City Utah). David Ostler, a new friend of ours, came on the show to talk about faith crises. Chances are, you know someone (or are someone) who has been through/is going through a faith crisis. Faith crises are scary, both non-members and members will agree. And the outcome is different for everyone.    Is it possible to build bridges between those in a faith crisis (and those who have left the Church) with those who haven't been through/aren't going through a faith crisis? YES. David Ostler talks about how we can connect despite differences in beliefs. He talks about ministering to those suffering with love and empathy.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon church) often use the phrase "going through the temple." But what does that mean? And can anyone go through or just members of the Church?    In this episode, we talk about what it means to go through the temple. When a temple is first constructed, the public is welcome to take a tour through the temple before it is dedicated (which means that it is dedicated to God as His house). After the dedication, only members of the Church who have a temple recommend (meaning that they are 'worthy' to enter) are able to go. However, in the Church, you might hear people refer to Jesus Christ simply as "Christ." What are things that Mormons can and cannot do?    Here are a few questions we discuss:    “Can Mormons drink alcohol?”  “Are Mormons allowed to question the leaders of the Church?”  “Do Latter-day Saints have to wear a white shirt to Church?”  “Do Latter-day Saints have to attend Sabbath day worship meetings?”  “Are Mormons allowed to use profanity?”  “Are Mormons required to serve a full-time mission?”    David said that these rules truly depend on where your heart is. Are you criticizing or being critical when it comes to certain rules?   Justin says that if you’re looking for religion based on how easy it is to live, your opinion probably isn’t a good measurement on whether or not the religion is true. In this episode, we discuss an article written by Third Hour called “Members of the Church Need to STOP Saying These 6 Things.” Many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have gotten into the habit of saying some things that are incorrect and often critical. We wanted to discuss six of the comments and why they might be incorrect or hurtful. While we believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ (as found in the Church of Jesus Christ, or Mormon Church) is true, we don’t believe that all of the cultural things should be perpetuated. Javier came to the United States from COLOMBIA! What happens after death? Will people who haven't heard the restored gospel have the opportunity to hear it or is this life the only chance?    If you die without a testimony of Jesus Christ, you aren't doomed. If you've never heard about the gospel of Jesus Christ, you'll have the opportunity to hear it and accept it in the life to come. How cool! This is a belief found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, otherwise known as the Mormon Church or LDS Church.    We believe in ministry that extends beyond this life and we believe that all people are loved by God, our Heavenly Father. He wants all people to return to Him and has made that possible through Jesus Christ and through after-life ministry (which was made possible through the atonement of Jesus Christ who broke the bands of death). Divorce is a tough topic to discuss even though it is quite common. We've published a few videos about divorce so what makes this one different?   In this episode, Sam and Taylor talk about growing up with divorced parents and how they coped with the changes to their families. Both grew up with parents who were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the Church of Jesus Christ, marriage is taken very seriously, as it is promised to last for eternity, so long as both partners stay true to their sealing in the temple... So when divorce occurs, there are a LOT of questions about the future of the family.   Is it possible to move past the divorce of your parents? Is what I'm feeling the Spirit? How do I know when I'm feeling the Holy Ghost?    Mormons talk about 'feeling the Spirit' quite frequently. Mimi points out that an important thing to recognize is that God speaks to us through the Spirit, so it's ever important to recognize the Spirit.    David said that he isn't always able to recognize when he IS feeling the Spirit but he always recognizes when he is NOT feeling the Spirit. While some people have experiences of feeling the Spirit intensely, many others feel the Spirit quietly.   He often feels the spirit in retrospect. Elder Richard G. Scott said, "The Holy Ghost communicates important information that we need to guide us in our earthly journey." Many christian religions condemn divorce. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (others known as the Mormon Church or LDS Church), divorce isn't taken lightly. HOWEVER, there are certainly times when divorce is necessary and even encouraged.    Today on Saints Unscripted (formerly known as 3 Mormons), we talk with Holly. Holly is remarkable! Her story is a story of faith, of empowerment, and of love. For as long as Holly can remember, marriage was heavily stressed. She was raised in the Church and thus, was taught the importance of an eternal marriage. She knew that when she was married in the temple, her marriage would be for eternity and she would need to fight for her marriage. Ludovica is AMAZING! We loved having her on the show and hearing about her INCREDIBLE life!!    Ludo was born and raised in Italy where her family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church). She grew up being in the minority as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. During high school, she decided to move to the United States. The transition was difficult. Well, it turns out that the answer to the question is YES! The Book of Mormon has been revised. But does that make the Book of Mormon false? And was Joseph Smith wrong in saying that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book of any book on earth?    In this episode, Kwaku and David discuss the THOUSANDS of revisions that have been made to the Book of Mormon. Many people date in high school. But timeless counsel from leaders in the Church of Jesus Christ advises people under 16 to refrain from dating and even at age 16, to not date one person “exclusively.” This counsel was emphasized quite some time ago... so is it still valid?    Well, we have different opinions on the topic!!   Sam talks about her experience having a steady boyfriend.
