  • How To Hear the Voice of God

    13/09/2020 Duração: 35min

God wants you to hear his voice. Of course God speaks, He is literally the Word! (John 1:1). You were created to hear the voice of God (Romans 8:16). God gave you a spirit so you could talk to His Spirit. You were saved to hear the voice of God (Hebrews 8:10). What does the voice of God sound like? 1 Kings 19:12 “still small voice.” Your “silent voice” is your thoughts. God’s voice sounds like your thoughts but from a different source.  Practical Tips for Hearing God’s Voice 1. Ask. James 4:2  2. Approach. James 4:8 Draw near to God – the closer you are to Him, the better you hear from Him.  3. Listen.Psalm 46:10 In order to hear the Lord, you’ll need to lower the volume of life.4. Recognize. John 10:27 Be a sheep! Voice recognition comes through repetition.   5. 06/09/2020 Duração: 37min

Description: What in the world is happening with race in America? In this message, Pastor Denny Blake of Disciples of Jesus Ministries and Pastor Jamie Nunnally have a real conversation about racism and the church.  They discuss these questions and more:• What does it feel like for you as a black man?• Lets talk about the phrase  black lives matter. Do you see a difference between the phrase black lives matter and the political group called BLM?• Many white people seem hesitant to support the idea that black lives matter because of black deaths that come at the hands of other blacks. How can we work against violence when so much of it comes from within the black community?• What does the black community need from the church right now?

  • Elephants in the Room Part 5: Social Justice

    30/08/2020 Duração: 38min

What responsibility does the church have for social justice? Pastor Eric Robertson addresses this question with insight and revelation. “Social justice is the view that everyone deserves equal economic, political and social rights and opportunities.” The church has traditionally stood behind this idea and should continue to stand behind this. (Isaiah 1:17)Church and Social Justice: Some of the greatest social breakthroughs in history were products of revival and faithful christians living out their faith in Jesus. What Happened: The Church dropped the ball and the World picked it up 1.Social Justice has been not only redefined but how we do social justice has been changed. Instead of individuals being responsible we have shifted the burden to our governments. 2.Social Justice has been weaponized against Christians who are afraid to support everything that has been forced into the defintion. The church often chooses all or nothing, rather than a biblical position.Social Justice Ditches: the gospel will offend t

  • Elephants20-Pt4-ConspiracyTheories

    23/08/2020 Duração: 32min

We live in a time of conspiracy theories. Why do people believe conspiracy theories? How should Christians respond to conspiracy theories? Pastor Jamie Nunnally addresses these questions and shares wisdom to handle unverified information. . Why should we be careful with conspiracy theories?1. Gossip and bearing false witness are sins.Exodus 20:16If you’re sharing unverified information, you are in sin and need to repent.Prov. 17:4  2. Your witness can be harmed.Colossians 4:5 James 1:25 If you’re always sharing stuff that’s fake, why would people listen to you about your faith? Don’t kill your credibility over conspiracy theories. 3. It can be a distraction from your real purpose. Hebrews 12:2 Time you spent investigating a conspiracy theory is time you didn’t spend with God.Philippians 4:8 “Don’t let the noise of the world keep you from hearing the voice of the Lord.” 4. People can get hurt. 1 Timothy 6:20-21 Isaiah 8:12  Are you responding to conspiracy theories the way a Christian should?

  • Elephants in the Room - Part 3: Human Trafficking

    16/08/2020 Duração: 35min

How should a Christian respond to human trafficking? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally tackles this subject head on.  Human trafficking is coerced work. Two main types: sex trafficking and forced labor trafficking. What you should know about human trafficking:1. The Bible teaches against all slavery.Exodus 21:16, 1 Timothy 1:10  2. Sex is not for sale. 1 Cor. 6:15-20  Sex is spiritual glue and is unsafe without the commitment of marriage.  3. Pedophilia is not a valid sexual orientation. Matthew 18:6  4. Money is the root cause behind most trafficking.1 Timothy 6:9-10   Both the love of money and lack of money cause people to do terrible things.  How should a Christian respond to this crisis? No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.  1. Stop looking at porn.Christians are called to be protectors, not predators. 2. Get involved. Learn to notice risk factors: controlled movement, lack of earnings, submissive behavior, foreign, substance abuse, physical abuse. Groups to support: Internationa

  • Elephants in the Room part 2: Christians and Politics

    09/08/2020 Duração: 38min

Elephants in the Room: where we tackle sensitive subjects and taboo topics that no one likes to talk about.  God's government supersedes man's government. 1. The political process is not the answer to this world’s problems. Isaiah 9:6  The problem with our world is sin, and the solution to that sin problem is not government - its God.  A Christian's job is not to connect others to their politics but to connect others to their King.  2. The church must not choose sides. 2 Timothy 2:4  If you find that God always agrees with your political opinions, your political opinions are your God.   How you talk about politics affects the kingdom of God. 1. Unity among the church is to be guarded at all costs. Galatians 3:26-28  Wear your Jesus jersey. Prioritize him over all other labels, including political ones.  2. Politicizing the gospel turns people away from the gospel.  John 17:21  Church, this is our time to be different than the world - we must demonstrate disagreement without disrespect. Value th

  • Elephants in the Room Part 1: The Prosperity Gospel

    02/08/2020 Duração: 46min

Elephants in the Room: where we tackle sensitive subjects and taboo topics that no one likes to talk about.  What is the prosperity gospel? Official definition: The prosperity gospel is an overemphasis on the material blessings of God, where you acquire His blessings of health and wealth transactionally through your own efforts, not relationally by His grace.    Whats wrong with it?    1. God is not a vending machine where we put in the money, punch in the code, and out comes the blessing. He’s God. We work for God, not the other way around.     2. It creates guilt if you’re not prosperous because you must be doing something wrong. God’s goal for your life is not luxury, but maturity. God is not as interested in what He can do FOR you, as He is in what He can do IN you and THROUGH you.Spirit-filled, full gospel, Charismatic, and Pentecostal belief is NOT the same as the prosperity gospel. Three areas where the prosperity gospel goes wrong:MONEY    What’s the problem?     1. It assumes God’s blessing can be me

  • This is My Story Part 3: The Man Born Blind

    21/06/2020 Duração: 39min

The story of the Man Born Blind in John chapter 9 has much to teach us. In the message Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares 5 truths from this unnamed man’s story. 1. When someone is suffering from a physical condition like blindness don’t think “they’re bad,” think “they’re broken.”  2. Jesus demonstrates that helping people is more important than keeping traditions. 3. The religious spirit intimidates , interrogates , humiliates, and separates. 4. It is demonstration, not instruction that will turn Jesus from stranger to savior in people’s lives. What if we relied on the power of the Spirit instead of the power of persuasion to lead people to Jesus? 5. Admitting your need is what sets you free.  You can't fix what you refuse to admit. Are you letting God heal your blindness?

  • This is My Story pt 1: Learning to Listen

    07/06/2020 Duração: 29min

Do you want to be heard? Do you listen? We all want to be heard, but the key to being heard is to hear. Unfortunately, it seems that everybody is lecturing and no one is listening. Pastor Jamie shares God’s encouragement to listen and love others. We should learn to listen because listening is how we learn. James 1:19-20 "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. Why is listening important? 1. Because we don’t know everything. Proverbs 18:13 A fool criticizes what he doesn't understand. 2. Because God speaks through others. Proverbs 11:14 3. Because you can’t correct a problem you don't understand. Proverbs 18:2  Christians are called to bring Kingdom solutions to the world around us, but we can’t do that if we haven’t accurately identified the problem first.  How to listen: Mark 10:46-52 (Blind Bartimaeus) 1. Stop.  Turn your attention to the other person and

  • Lockdown Lessons

    31/05/2020 Duração: 38min

Have you changed your life during a time of crisis? Afterward, when returning to “normal”, it’s important to consider which parts of "normal" are worth returning to. Many times when the pain goes away, the change goes away. Give meaning to your pain by redeeming your pain. God is turning this interruption into an invitation: will you learn my lessons from this lockdown? 5 lessons I hope we are learning from this lock down:1. You are in charge of feeding yourself spiritually. 1 Peter 2:2-3  The strength of your roots determines your ability to bend in the storm. 2. Your family needs you. Acts 16:29-34 3. Prepare your finances for the future. Luke 16:11 4. The problem isn’t time, its time management. Ephesians 5:15-16  You don’t have to have everything your way to be happy. Having everything you want when you want it is not happiness—it’s selfishness. 5. Christians use our freedom to serve others instead serving of ourselves. Galatians 5:13  You don’t have to choose between helping others and helping

  • God is Good.

    24/05/2020 Duração: 41min

Psalm 100:5 “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”  3 Things I Want You to Know about God’s Goodness: 1. You will be tempted to believe that God is not good.James 1:16-18Don’t be deceived: God is the source of good. If its good its God.  If its not good its not God. What about pain we experience, when people hurt us, disaster and virus pandemics?  The pain in this world doesn’t reflect on God’s goodness, it reflects on our brokenness.  2. It is important to believe that God is good. Hebrews 11:6  Psalm 27:13   If you don’t believe God is good, you will lose heart, you will stop praying, and your theology will suffer. I can tell what you think about God by how much you pray.  If you are not talking to God you need to ask yourself what you think about Him.   God's goodness can be objectively observed:If I told you someone was good, what would you expect to see in their lives?  1. He does good deeds.Acts 10:38God is doing good deeds i

  • GOD is Love

    10/05/2020 Duração: 45min

God is Love.  Our culture uses a heart as the symbol of love. Scripture uses a bloody cross. 1 John 4:16 “… God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”Love is not just something God has, it’s who He is.Best description of God …. Love   Types of Love in Ancient GreekEros – attraction  & infatuationPhilia – friendship & loyaltyAgape – service & sacrificeWhen scripture talks about love, its talking about agape. This is the “God-kind” of love.  John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”You can only give what you’ve got and God is how you get agape. 5 Things You should know about God’s love: 1. God’s love is unstoppable.  Romans 8:35-39 The things that happen to you are not an accurate reflection of how God feels about you. Choose to believe God’s love for you, anything less is believing a lie. 2. God’s love pursues you. 1 John 4:10 Luke 19:10 3. God’s love actively helps you. John 5:17 The opposite of love is not hate, but
