Our destiny is not to remain here on earth forever. Tomorrow is not promised and nobody knows for sure what today will bring. Idle time is fleeting; but when we pause to reflect it's long-lasting. How can we live in the moment free of the cares and worries of this world? For starters, we can yearn for and seek time to reflect on God's mercies that are new every morning.  Matthew 6:34 (NASB) says, “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."  Be encouraged, beloved! Society suggests that living a fragmented life from family and community is the norm. Today, more than ever, the differences, untruths, fear, and ignorance tear our families, communities, and nation apart. Restoration is needed to achieve healing, harmony, and unity. I Peter 5:10 (NIV) says, "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast."  Join us on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 3:30 PM PST, with our special guest Angela M. Children are a blessing from God, and parenting is a huge responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly.  True enough, single parenting is met with many challenges. Generally, the family structure breaks down, and children live with the stigma that they are on the short end of the stick. Single parents can be overcomers by surviving financial hardship, emotional upheaval, and spiritual burdens of unworthiness. Trust in the Lord and His promises so you can live with hope on the horizon.  Psalm 127:3 (NASB) says, "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward."  God desires single parents to align their families with sound biblical teaching and application. All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows Day, is November 1. Halloween, a contraction of All Hallows' Eve, is a holiday observed on October 31, the evening before All Saints' Day. The Celts believed the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. I Thessalonians 5:21-22 says, "Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil." As believers, we must be careful that we don't mistake evil for good. As followers of Jesus Christ, we must be careful about what we align with -- even in traditional celebrations and fun! The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Every believer receives the gift of the Holy Spirit upon conversion. God is not seen but experienced. Jesus Christ is pictured during His ministry and hanging on Calvary's cross. On the other hand, the Holy Spirit is not pictured but is described with symbols such as a dove; a tongue of fire (flame); the wind; a lamp; rays of light; a cloud; water; and oil are just a few examples. He is a person, not it, and indwells and fills believers so we can walk in His power and guidance. John 3:5-6 says, 5 "Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." There is a truth that sets us free --one truth, Jesus the Christ that gives strength to all the other truths. And since the key truth is a person, not a thing, our freedom is found in our relationship with the person, Jesus the Son of God. Our victory is in Him!  It doesn't matter what angle or approach Satan uses, Christ will already be there. The enemy has been defeated. Christ wins the spiritual battles and He has won the war.   Romans 8:37-38 (NIV) says, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Each day here on earth is a gift from God. At the start of our day, we should thank God because He gave us another day to serve Him and others. How do we view time? Is it limited? Do we regret losing it? Do we throw it away? Do we chase it? Do we seize the moment?  Tomorrow is a blessing. Yesterday should bear lessons learned. Our perspective concerning yesterday and tomorrow should elicit trust in God because He is in control of time. Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, Don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (NIV) Remember there are two days you should never worry about: yesterday and tomorrow. You can't live in the past. You can't live in the future. Our time is here and now, at the moment. There are so many roads to take on our journey with Jesus Christ. Sometimes we second guess where to turn or in which direction to go when we reach a fork in the road or a dead end. Have you ever asked why the detours in life? The answers are embedded in God's purpose and a plan for our lives. When we patiently wait on Him for guidance and direction, we'll find the strength to keep pressing on with our eyes on the prize!   Philippians 3:13-14 (NASB), says, "Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."  When we look back over our lives, we can see the divine interruptions, divine interventions, and providential care of Almighty God. II Corinthians 2:14 (NASB) says, "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of Him in every place."  Verse 15 goes on to say, "We are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing."  God does more than just keep an eye on us, He is the overseer of our life from beginning to end. Jehovah Rapha means the Lord heals physical and emotional needs. We often pray for physical healing, but our healing should be holistic, including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Jesus did it all during His public ministry.  And, the Holy Spirit was at work in and through the apostles, performing His ministry of glorifying Jesus Christ.  Peter was told to heal a lame man lying at the Beautiful Gate. Acts 3:6 (NIV) says, "Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. Right now, Christians are observing the Lenten Season. Lent is a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. A surrendered life to Christ is powerful! In it, we have all the freedoms that we need. God wants us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and live sensibly, righteously and godly in this present age. Jesus Christ redeemed us and has clothed us in His righteousness. We are saved from the wages of sin --every lawless deed and all impurities so that we can stand worthy before God. Luke 9:23 (NKJV) says, "Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."To deny self requires a surrendered life. The Holy Spirit gives us the power we need to reject those old sinful desires. The fruit of the Spirit will produce Christlike characteristics. When we are led by the Spirit and walk with the Spirit, we can say “no” to sin and accept the “way out” God faithfully provides. We must follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. As we give the Spirit more control of our lives, He begins to do in and through us what only He can do. He shapes us and grows us to produce much fruit for God's kingdom.  Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Our heavenly Father graciously and freely distributes spiritual gifts to each believer. He wants us to use our gifts for His glory, but oftentimes we don't. He not only expects us to use our gifts, but also to know our spiritual gifts and to grow in them each day. I Peter 4:10 (NIV) says "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."  We are all a special and unique part of the body of Christ. God wants to use us! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year is our standard greeting during this time of year!  And when I say it, I mean it with all sincerity. I also want to acknowledge a few more holidays during December, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Boxing Day. Each of these holidays have significant meaning to the people who celebrate them. The account of the birth of baby Jesus can sometimes get lost in the December shuffle and transition into the new year. I want to remind us of the true reason for the season, which is the Christ child. In Luke 2:10-11 (NIV), it says "But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord."  On December 25th, Christians are celebrating the advent of the Messiah, the first coming of Jesus the Christ. Life is a journey! While living life we will encounter happiness, sadness, fear, and anger, just to name a few emotions. But the reality is, humankind was created to feel and show emotions. The million dollar question is how do we respond to God when life’s circumstances directs us to the pathways of pain, disappointment, guilt, or shame? Our challenge is to stay on course and not detour. God wants us to seek and trust Him throughout our entire journey with all its ups and downs. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" There is a reason for everything God allows us to face. Pain also provides us an opportunity to experience the grace of God. He will give us what we need to endure. God expects us to communicate with Him through prayer. There is power in prayer. God is always ready to help, provide, and get us through any situation we encounter. We can depend on Him! He has inclined His ears to hear us and to answer our prayers. God is always on time, and according to His will, answers prayer. The outcome will glorify Him. I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) says, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."  No matter the circumstances, be encouraged to keep trusting in our Heavenly Father. His love, mercy and grace, allow His blessings to flow abundantly.
