Harvest for the Hungry: What about the Poor?
25/09/2018 Duração: 16minOn September 22, Yield to the King Ministry will host its 2nd annual fundraising event "Harvest for the Hungry". Our goal is to heighten awareness that people who are hungry, homeless and displaced are among us. Scripture says, "He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry....." Psalm 146:7 (NIV) Our mission is to "mirror the love of Jesus Christ by helping all people in need." So it's obvious we want to raise funds to continue serving those in need through the following outreach programs: meal preparation and feeding; income-qualifying rental assistance; and temporary housing advocacy and placement. But more importantly, we aim to offer wholesome fellowship for communities to come together with a common purpose, goal, and effort. We're having a silent auction, raffle, entrainment, food, and looking forward to loads of fun! Join us Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PDT, as we talk about the evening's event and how our heavenly Father continues to bless the work and programs o

True Leadership Comes from Knowing Self
11/09/2018 Duração: 32minBelieve it or not, leadership just doesn't happen! It takes hard work, grooming, self-examination, humility, coaching, and the willingness to grow self. The book of Numbers says Joshua had the spirit of leadership. Num. 27:18 (NIV). God prepared him to lead others. Do you wish to be a leader of yourself and others? If so, then you must know yourself. Be honest and ask yourself these questions --Do I resist change or am I a change agent? Do I prefer to work in a silo or do I like to collaborate? Do I forgive easily? Who inspires me? Will I be transformed so I can transform others? Join us Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PDT, with special guest Hylke Faber, leader of Constancee and the Growth Leaders Network. Mr. Faber, born in the Netherlands and based in the United States, is author of Taming Your Crocodiles: Unlearn Fear & Become A True Leader. Based on his book, which was recommended by Bloomberg as one of the 10 best books on leadership in 2018, Hylke will explore the analogy of listening

Give Back with Purpose: A Community Tour
29/08/2018 Duração: 16min"....It is more blessed to give than to receive", according to Apostle Paul, in Acts 20:35, who quoted our Lord, Jesus Christ. Years ago, I did not understand its true meaning. Recently, however, I witnessed this Scripture in action. In August, I traveled to the Dominican Republic, the other half of the island next to Haiti, in Eastern Caribbean Yield to the King Ministry visited Casa Martina, a girls orphanage. Their mission is to offer a place of safety for children. Abandoned girls live in the orphanage from ages three to 23. They also get to attend school for free. I saw the mighty hand of God at work in their lives. I heard testimonials about the older young ladies who grew up in the orphanage and chose to remain to teach and pour into the lives of the younger children. Join us Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PDT, as I share with you what I learned about the staff, children, and founder of Casa Martina. Food for Thought and the Brain
14/08/2018 Duração: 31minHave you asked yourself this question, "What must I do to keep my brain healthy?" Some may answer exercise, sleep, and live well. Others may insist on eating healthily and include all the brain foods. And some believe that stimulating your mind by learning new things will keep your brain fit. All of these assertions hold some truth. However, we should also consider what the Word of God says in Colossians chapter 3, verse 2 "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." The human brain is an organ that serves as the central nervous system. It controls the functions of the body. Today, more and more people are being diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's stages, and experiencing stroke and behavioral health issues. Join us Tuesday, August 14, at 3:30 PM, PDT,with special guest Jeanie McKay, CPC, ELI-MP, Chief Learning Officer and founder of MindZone. Jeanie will share with us her personal journey and why she has chosen to offer the necessary information and resources for a healthy brain. Jeanie's

Empty Spaces: A time for Letting Go - part II
31/07/2018 Duração: 43min"Empty Spaces: The Dynamics of Life" is a story about redemption, by Corey Thompson. Corey wrote his story years ago and little did he know that God would open doors for his book to be published in 2018. God in His perfect timing asked Corey to share his story about life, self-evaluation, growth, taking ownership, forgiveness, and healing. Corey Thompson resides in Seattle, Washington, and attends Church by the Side of the Road in Tukwila, Washington. He has a heart for youth and has served with church youth groups and youth organizations such as Young Life. He knows the struggles of our youth today – he's been there, done that! Real Freedom: Under What Rule Are You?
03/07/2018 Duração: 16minIn America we celebrate Independence Day, on the fourth of July. According to Wikipedia, during the American Revolution the legal separation of thirteen colonies from Great Britain occurred in 1776 on July 2. America declared independence from under Great Britain rule with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Lord, Fill Me Up
19/06/2018 Duração: 16minIn Acts chapter thirteen, Paul and Barnabus were consecrated for the work of the Lord. They were sent away on their first missionary journey to Paphos of Cyprus. They preached to the men of Israel and were met with fierce opposition. The Jews were jealous that the word of God was being preached to the Gentiles. In Acts 13:52 it says, "And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit." Just think how discouraged and distracted they could have been if they did not choose joy during adversity. Join us Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at 2:30 PM, PDT, as we examine the plea for the Lord to fill us up and how important it is to choose joy. Honoring God through Financial Stewardship
05/06/2018 Duração: 16minEverything we have and own is a gift from God. He has made us overseers and expects us to be good stewards not only over our finances, but also our resources, time, and talents. Believe it or not there are biblical principles for financial stewardship. Matthew 6:33 promises that God will provide enough stuff and money for those putting His Kingdom first (paraphrased). Overall, it's another opportunity for us to trust God in one more area of our lives. Join us Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PDT, as we discover instruction in the Word of God on how we should conduct our financial affairs. Step by Step: We Are Not Alone
22/05/2018 Duração: 16minGod has made us a promise, "I will never leave nor forsake you." Where then is God when we need Him most? Why does it feel like we are walking alone through difficult times? The truth is, Jesus is with us in the midst of the tumultuous storm and in the midst of the calm of the storm. We just need a reminder where to find God in crisis! We serve a mighty God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. God is everywhere. He is not bound by space or time. Life and death are in His hands. He sees and knows all things. Whether we're struggling with damaged or broken relationships, an unexpected crisis, unemployment, depression, or injustice, He hears the cries of our hearts. The Lord is there for you and I –He has been, always will be time and again. Join us Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PDT, as we are reminded of the Lord's faithfulness and His presence while walking through times of crisis. A Tribute to My Mother
08/05/2018 Duração: 31minMother's Day is upon us, a time to celebrate mothers, grandmothers, God-mothers, foster mothers, adoptive mothers, and the like. I'm a little saddened around this time and struggle with how to celebrate Mother's Day. Why? Because my mother died May 11, 2016, and the last Mother's Day we celebrated with her was May 8, 2016. My four sisters and I thanked God that we were able to honor and celebrate her one last time while she was still here on earth! And, we especially thank Him today for the mother He gave us! When I think about her, the passages in Proverbs 31:10-31, often called the Virtuous Womanor The Wife of Noble Character, come to mind. My mother truly was of good character; clothed with dignity and strength; spoke with wisdom; watched over the affairs of her house; and her children "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." She was an exceptional woman. Join us Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PST, as sisters reminisce about their mother and t

Jesus Loves Me This I Know
24/04/2018 Duração: 16minI remember learning "Jesus Loves Me", a children's hymn in Sunday school at the age of five or six. At that early age I could not comprehend the magnitude of Jesus' love. Today however, I can affirm His love for me because of my relationship with Him and because the Bible tells me so. The Bible is full of verses, content, and context proclaiming applicable truths to the song “Jesus Loves Me.” This leads to the question, how should we respond to this powerful hymn? And, will we let the Bible tell us so? The truth of Christ’s love is simple to say or sing, yet difficult to believe. It takes faith --a saving faith provided by God. The term “love” evokes a relationship, intimacy, commitment, and devotion. Join us Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PST,as we consider this childhood hymn, its origin, and what it really means to say Jesus Loves Me. DNA: What's all the fuss about?
10/04/2018 Duração: 16minThe Bible says in Genesis 1:27, "God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." (NKJV) Those passages are significant, if you believe in the creation. What about the desires of people who want to find out more about their genetic makeup and ancestry? Most have resorted to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing. DNA is an abbreviation for the very thing that makes us who we are. I personally know of individuals who are interested in learning more about their family of origin. They want answers to such questions as, from what countries did my ancestors come? What is my ancestry dominant race? Who are my distant relatives? I have family members and friends who have submitted their home testing kit to receive their results and now they know more than they knew before. Isn't knowing God as creator of all things enough? Join us Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PST, as we consider DNA a challenge to believers and nonbelievers alike. Call in to speak with t

The Power of the Resurrection Defines Christianity
27/03/2018 Duração: 16minResurrection Sunday is Christianity's defining moment. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. Matthew 28:6 says, "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." And because of His death, burial, and resurrection, Christians are free from the penalty of sin, which is death, and we have the promise and hope of eternal life. He is risen, He is risen indeed! Christian Hymns Dwell within Our Hearts
13/03/2018 Duração: 16minI love church hymns! When singing them they minister to me deep down within my soul. Christian hymns give us hope and faith, because they are rooted in theology and share the richness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Centuries ago, singing hymns in church gatherings was important to our forefathers just as it is for us today. Imagine, the Christian hymns that were penned dating back to the 6th century are still popular today in 21st century churches. Join us Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PST, as we remind ourselves of the beauty and significance of truth-filled Christian hymns. The Importance and Power of the Truth
27/02/2018 Duração: 16minToday, we have access to so much information. We are informed through electronic means, print media, radio broadcasts, and interviews, just to name a few. Nowadays, WHO determines what is a good source of information? WHAT verfication process is used for information that is being disseminated? WHY do so many of us automatically entertain what we read or hear? From WHERE does this information come? WHEN do we decipher if this information is accurate or not? And ultimately, HOW will this information effect our lives? God's truth is based on fact – it is recorded and verifiable. The world's truth is based on a perspective that is governed by a different set of principles. Can we trust its source? Jesus said "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 (NIV). Ash Wednesday: Where is my place of wilderness?
13/02/2018 Duração: 16minThere are many faith traditions and practices around Ash Wednesday. And you may ask, “Why is it important?” Short answer, because it starts off the Holy Season of Lent with meaning, purpose and reflection. This year 2018, Ash Wednesday is February 14 and the Lenten Season lasts through March 31. The Season lasts 40 days (not counting Sundays), representing the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness before starting His ministry. Our focus during this Season should be a time of repentance, renewal, and motivation to reach a new level of experiencing God’s grace. Jesus said it well "Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:14-15 (NKJV). Our witness: Does it really matter?
30/01/2018 Duração: 16minOur lives should increase the desire of others to know Christ as Lord and Savior. One way people can learn of Jesus is by our testimony and witness. No, we've not seen Him with our naked eye, but if we're in relationship with Him, we have experienced His love, mercy, and grace. Isaiah 43:12 says, "I have revealed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God." We are His witnesses when we live with focus and purpose or even if we flounder like a fish fresh out of water. Jesus is the great I AM, and He saves. What more can we talk about other than the faithfulness and goodness of Jesus and the impact He has on our life? Join us Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PST, as we discuss the importance of our personal testimony and witness -- what God is doing in our lives and our profession of faith shown by our words or actions. Our Daily Bread: Are you hungry?
16/01/2018 Duração: 16minCan you count the times throughout the day when you really feel hungry? I would say for me maybe two to three times per day my stomach feels empty, but of course it depends on what type of meal I ate last. Years ago in the name of being proactive, I used to eat before feeling hunger pangs. Now with maturity and being more conscientious about my overall health, I've learned to eat smaller portions and leave room for a small snack later. Have you ever felt really hungry for the Word of God and your hunger pangs are insatiable? Do we approach the Word of God as our daily bread or do we just snack every now and again? The Word should be equally important to us as the food we eat to nourish our physical bodies. Are we ready to develop a ravenous appetite for the Word of God and do what takes to embark on this journey? Join us Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PST, as we discuss and consider a healthy appetite for our daily bread, the very sustenance of a transformed life. Call in to speak with the host (64

Happy New Year: It's time for new beginnings
02/01/2018 Duração: 16minHappy New Year! The year 2018 is here and we cannot turn back the hands of time. Most everyone starts out the new year with new plans. Today, I want us to ask ourselves what are our plans for this year? Also, what will we do the same as last year, maybe change or do differently in 2018? Psalm 33:11 (NIV) says, "But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations." There is a comfort in knowing that God's plans prevail and all we have to do is seek Him and His counsel when we attempt to establish our own plans. Join Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 3:30 PM, PST, as we discuss our plans and how they should and can be in alignment with God's plans for us.
